Summary

Destroyed/Disposed in the warehouse is a type of audit that looks for the Seller's inventory that has been reported as destroyed or disposed of in the warehouse. As inventory moves throughout the fulfillment network while in Amazon’s possession, items can become damaged.

If the product becomes damaged in the warehouse and Amazon is not able to reclassify the item as ‘used' and the likelihood of the Seller wanting the item back, Amazon will mark the item as destroyed and disposed of.

What is Destroyed / Disposed?

As inventory is moved around to different storage bins within the fulfillment center, or transferred to another fulfillment center, the items run the risk of being damaged, and no longer in the sellable condition that they were originally received.

In the event that an item is damaged within the warehouse, Amazon will move the item from a sellable disposition, and move it to destroyed/disposed. This process ensures that the virtual quantity of units a Seller has for sale mirrors the physical inventory quantities available to customers, and mitigates the risk of potentially selling a product that is not in the condition the customer expects it to be in when they receive it.

Generally, this applies to items that cannot be resold, or cannot be returned such as personal hygiene products, hazmat-classified items, or items that are destroyed beyond a value where they could be of reasonable use.

How Getida does this claim.

Getida will proactively review your inventory reports to identify any items which have been categorized by Amazon as ‘destroyed / disposed’. We will then file a claim to seek reimbursement for the missing unit(s).

After filing a claim, Amazon will launch an investigation to verify the accuracy of the inventory classification. If they are unable to replace the units within [x] days, they will issue a reimbursement.

Benefits of Getida Destroyed / Disposed Claims:

  • We review inventory reports and submit claims for our clients which allows them to focus more on their business.
  • Historical inventory reports are reviewed, and we retroactively submit claims for lost inventory for the trailing 18 months.

FAQs:

1) Even if Amazon classifies a product as destroyed / disposed, is there any opportunity for the Seller to get the item back?

A: No. Due to the classification of these items, once they are marked as destroyed /disposed, Amazon will physically remove the item from their warehouse and dispose of it.
